From 2011 to 2012... what goes and what grows?

2011 has come to close and for many, if not most people, the response is “thank heavens” or “good riddance” or “I survived”, or some statement of relief to that effect. But let us not be too hasty to trash 2011 and the experiences we shared collectively and individually, Instead, let ‘s ask this question, “What part of what happened in 2011 do I not want to continue and what part of what happened in 2011 do I want to see continue and strengthened?”

Perhaps there were relationship issues that were either neglected or strained such as marriages, friendships, families, neighbors, or coworkers, that need attention. Maybe there were financial hardships that you have been struggling through. Or quite possibly there were health issues that took their toll. Whatever the issues, the fact remains that the God of the universe is intimately familiar with them and desires to be in them with you. Not only is He omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent, He is also omni-personal. This means He is big enough to handle any situation and yet personal enough to  be right with you through it all.

What a great comfort and relief - that God cares - why not start 2012 with this thought - I am going to stop trying to do things out of my own strength and bring my issues to God and trust Him with them. What a novel thought!
